To be successful at trading on exchanges such as Betfair and Smarkets you need to have access to as much information as possible.  If I had a penny for every time over the years I've heard someone tell me that they'd lost money by betting on some South American second division match, I may not be a millionaire from it but I reckon I could buy half a pint.

Too many bets and trades are based on luck rather than reasoning and if you've not already done so, you need to have a coherent plan and focus on learning a particular statistic and betting market inside out.  The sites below are the ones I use on a regular basis to help me make informed decisions when trading on Betfair and chasing the green screen.

5 – Football Data

This has been around for ages and I developed many a trading strategy and betting angle from it in my early Betfair days.  The site looks a little dated compared to others but they still track loads of useful information.

4 – Soccerway

This must be the biggest database of football matches online?!  If you can think of a league, a player, a competition, it'll be there, no matter how obscure.  A wealth of information to be tapped into

3 – Soccer Stats

Really nice previews of matches on this site, no waffle, just good old numbers and statistics.  Particularly enjoy the half-time and correct scores info

2 – Who Scored

Some superb footy stats and it's all beautifully presented.  You can drill down to players and see their recent performances and much more.  The editorials are a good read too.

1 – Team Statistics

The only paid for item on my list but it has become an invaluable tool to find value and angles within the football markets on Betfair and Smarkets.  If you notice a football match is currently 0-0 at half-time and you're wondering how many times those teams have scored goals in the second half when it's been 0-0 at half-time, then it lets you know at the click of a mouse.  Really powerful stuff from the guys at Goal Profits.

If there are any others that you can recommend, then please continue the conversation by commenting below, it'd be great to hear from you.
